Serve Within Our Church
Altar Guild
Serving on the Altar Guild at St. Pat's is a meaningful way to contribute to the life of our church by helping prepare the altar and sanctuary for worship. This behind-the-scenes ministry ensures that everything is ready for the celebration of the Eucharist, from setting the communion table to caring for the sacred vessels and linens. Whether you’re new to this role or have prior experience, the Altar Guild offers a unique opportunity to serve in a quiet yet essential way, helping create a beautiful and reverent space for our community to gather in worship.
Children's Ministries
Our burgeoning children and youth programs raise kids up in the faith and life of the church, and we get to participate in all sorts of fun, creative ways that bless us, too. Share your time and talents by leading Sunday School, sharing a favorite story, song or craft, getting involved with Diocesan youth events, and helping us dream what's next in children's ministries. Volunteers who work with kids participate in safeguarding training at the diocesan level.
Grounds Care
Caring for the grounds at St. Pat's is a flexible and rewarding way to contribute to the beauty and upkeep of our church environment. Volunteers are always welcome to help with various tasks, both inside and outside, on an as-needed basis. By helping to maintain our space, you create a welcoming and serene atmosphere for worship and fellowship. This ministry is perfect for those who enjoy hands-on work and want to serve in a practical, tangible way.
Meals and Cleanup
Regardless of your skillset, there's an opportunity to serve for our Wednesday evening meals or our Sunday morning Coffee Hours. For Wednesdays, everyone pitches in and contributes as they can, either preparing dishes, bringing sides, or doing cleanup afterward. For Coffee Hour, signups occur every other month, and you are able to choose a given Sunday (or even share a Sunday with someone else). That Sunday, you'll provide snacks and prepare the coffee for everyone after service. Both are meaningful ways to support our community and be part of these special gatherings!
Music
Whether you’re interested in joining our choir, which leads us in worship each Sunday, or offering your talents as an instrumentalist, there’s a place for you. We welcome musicians of all skill levels to contribute, and whether you sing, play an instrument, or simply love music, your involvement will help enrich our worship experience.
Pastoral Care
We feel the privilege of caring for each other. We pray for each other, share mutual aid, visit, take meals, and enjoy all sorts of acts of kindness to build up individual members and the whole community. There are many ways to contribute.
Production
Our Production Ministry at St. Pat's is key to creating a smooth and engaging worship experience for everyone, both in-person and online. If you enjoy working with technology, this is a great way to serve through running the sound and live stream during our Sunday services. No previous experience is required, and we offer training for anyone interested. By helping behind the scenes, you ensure that our services run smoothly and are accessible to all, extending our worship beyond the walls of the church and into the homes of those who join us virtually.
Serve Within Our Community
Creation Care
At St. Patrick's, our Creation Care Ministry reflects our commitment to stewarding God’s creation with love and responsibility. We are actively reducing our reliance on disposable paper products within the church, embracing more sustainable practices. In service to the broader community, we support humane efforts to care for feral cats through a trap-neuter-return (TNR) program, reducing their numbers and improving their welfare. Looking ahead, we are exploring the possibility of creating a community garden, a space that will nurture not only the earth but also relationships among neighbors, providing fresh produce and a connection to God’s abundant creation. Through these initiatives, we live out our faith by caring for the world and all its creatures.
Hispanic Outreach
Our church has a growing Hispanic population, and as such, we are deepening relationships with our Spanish-speaking neighbors. We do regular programs for the children of the Rainbow Terrace community. We are also working as a community to expand our Spanish language skills to better serve the community.
LGBTQ+ Outreach
We often say that St. Pat's is the "Gayest church in Town!" We serve as a church home for many within the LGBTQIA+ community and work to advocate for and serve that population in our broader community.
The Arts
St. Pat's is home to numerous artists of every form. As such, we strive to support the arts and artists in our community, both in their arts and in their spiritual journeys.
The Homeless
Located right downtown, St. Pat's is uniquely located to serve the homeless population in Somerset. We support God's Food Pantry and Help The Homeless both materially and through by giving our time.
